Issue#99357: ubuntu mate 15.10: intel R 82945g: screen coruption

  • Hi all I just got ubuntu mate 15.10 installed today and every now and then the screen goes black and then returns but is corrupt, I also encountered this issue on the newer lubuntu release as well, but whatever driver was used for my intel R 82945g by default in lubuntu "12.04" worked perfectly, if possible maybe I could use that driver somehow? any assistance would be much appreciated.

  • Issue#43480: [ubuntu] Intel Graphics Issue

Hi Guys, This is Karan. I'm running on Ubuntu 15.10 Willy Werewolf, ASRock H81 PRO BTC Mobo, Intel Pentium G3258 4th Generation Haswell Processor that claims to bundle 4th Gen. Intel Extreme Graphics. I'm dual booting Ubuntu 15.10 with Windows 10 both on separate HDDs. I'm playing graphics intensive games on Windows and I've installed Intel Graphics from Intel's own website leading to Intel Graphics Installer for Linux. After taking much time, the app displayed success message and asked a reboot. I did reboot and initial boot screen display was at about 640x480 resolution and then switched back to original 1024x768 resolution during boot and logged in as usually. I didn't noticed anything different from Ubuntu without Intel Graphics and/or with Intel Graphics. Next I ran, VMWare Workstation 12 and Installed Windows 8.1 x86 guest OS in it. I enabled 3D Support in settings but when I booted the VM, it displayed and error message that No 3D Support is available from Host OS... Did I did

  • Issue#147977: ubuntu MATE menu issue

Hi. I installed Ubuntu MATE 14.04.2 64-bit recently and I am having issue with its default menu. I love the current gnome2-like set up and the theme but the problem is that the menu icons load up very slow during the first start. especially the icons in the office submenu takes several seconds to load. Can anyone please suggest me how-to rectify this issue? Changing to the Faenza icon theme has resolved this issue but I don't like Faenza. I want the default out-of-the-box look. THANKS :)

I am forced to shell in and sudo reboot each time Intel HD2000 built in graphics i tried making a keyboard shortcut for xrandr --auto and kill xsettingsd but these shortcuts seemingly do nothing. I found the link below, I installed xtrace, but dont know how to proceed, or even if its relevant: "To debug this problem, check if gnome-settings-daemons is getting a signal that the display configuration has changed, by running xtrace against it, and look for a RRScreenChangeNotify event when resuming the machine. If that signal is being sent, then it indicates a possible bug in g-s-d. Otherwise, it suggests a bug in either X or (more likely) the kernel which is not causing the signal to be emitted to begin with." https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/BlankScreen#Problem:__Black_screen_after_resume

  • Issue#354632: [ubuntu-mate] change password broken on login screen

Hello, I am not sure if this is a problem specific for ubuntu-mate or just mate. Whenever my password decides to expire I cannot change it on the login screen. Once I type my password it says "changing password for vitas" but that is all and there is no way to change the password because no fields to enter new password appear. WTH? I have to switch to text console by ctrl+alt+f1 and change it there. This is pretty bad and quite user unfriendly IMHO :-] DSC_5211.jpg Attached Images DSC_5211.jpg (47.7 KB)

There is a black screen about the size of the calculator window in center left of browsers window (always there) for about 2 seconds. Most of the time when I open them or after visiting some web pages. Also in Windows 10. Is it a bug in the Chromium architecture, is there a bug? All I know is that it was not there before and there is no relation between the background color and this annoying issue. Not present in FF nor in Brave 0.83 or in Tor browser. Until further clarification will be using FF only. Google Chrome Stable extensions: Disconnect, Ad Block, Browsec, Click and Clean (the red one, the right click one) Opera Developer extensions: Disconnect, Ghostery, Ad Block, Browsec, Close and Clean. IÂ’m using the same extensions in FF and in Tor that does not need Browsec.

  • Issue#534400: [ubuntu] Problem with Intel integrated graphics after upgrade to 16.04 (blank screen)

Hello all, I upgraded one desktop pc system to 16.04 and after first reboot screen went totally blank (permanently) at the point where KMS does the mode setting for higher resolution vga, and the system booted otherwise normally. I was able to remotely change boot parameters to "nomodeset" and after that I did get video, but obviously all the hardware acceleration features of Intel graphics were gone (and I need them). Without nomodeset it will stay blank no matter what I tried. Tv display is connected with motherboard HDMI (1920x1080) if that's of interest here. • Issue#1034463: Ubuntu - Stuck on purple screen (16.04) (Multiple reinstallations, same issue)

After installing 16.04 (on a samsung 850 250GB) a few days ago, fighting nvidia to work right, and then trying to make windows play nice, the installation seemed to completely fail, first with plymouth getting stuck in it's nice 5 dot loading sequence, after which it bumped into emergency mode, and glitched to hell, with input not being accepted, I restarted. At reboot, selected Ubuntu in grub, and then the infamous purple screen hang began, with no amount of restarts fixing it. So like any other bug, I simply figured a reinstall was all I needed (and I lost my damn conky script). A few days go by, to today, and randomly on a reboot - plymouth stuck on 5 dot load, falls into emergency mode with no way to actually do anything, restart, and with recovery mode not working (*EXTREME glitches, I mean EXTREME* - wierd text bouncing, invalid input, nothing input properly, unable to do just about anything), I admit defeat. So turning to the internet to see if I have managed to put together th

But At boot, on my screen n°2 (which is principal screen in gnome) have black space from the side and wallpaper is cropped., if i put cursor in the upperleft corner of the screen n°2, I see correctly the wallpaper uncropped and without the black border.... • Issue#2164: Ubuntu - VPN issue (Astrill)

So weird issue here... Trying out Kubuntu for the first time (15.04) and as I live in China I need a VPN to access, well, anything useful. Astrill works fine at first, went to their site, downloaded the deb and installed it and it works fine except for one thing: It only works with the account I was using when I installed it. I installed it using my Admin account, and then switched to a regular user account, no luck. If I launch it, the icon bounces like it's launching and then nothing. I tried launching it with a second admin account..same thing. If I reinstall it in the second account, it launches but then the original account cannot use it. So basically, any time I wish to switch accounts I need to reinstall the package? That's weird. Anyone heard of anything like this before? FWIW, I have had similar issues with various codecs. Video plays fine, but only for the account that I used to install the media player with. (mainly for SMplayer) Help?

  • Issue#5741: [ubuntu] NVidia 8800M GTS Drivers screen goes dead.

I really enjoy Linux. I have always enjoyed Linux but gaming is a big hobby of mine. I recently have found no fuss PlayOnLinux. I don't play much on my laptop, but it would be perfect if I could. Now the problem. The laptop is an older Gateway P6831FX with the 8800m GTS 512MB video card. It was a decent card at the time, given the amount of DX9 and DX10 games available it still is. I noticed that I was running the Nouveau driver instead of an Nvidia driver. I successfully switched to an Nvidia driver. After a few minutes the screen will just go dead. It would be totally off but the laptop is still running. So there is no switching to terminal. Essentially my solution now is reinstall Ubuntu/Linux. I have used 3.40 and 3.10 versions of the driver. I have even downloaded and installed the driver from the Nvidia website. Has anyone ran into this issue? Edit: I am able to reboot and get back into the OS. Again after a few minutes the screen shuts off. The computer seems non-responsive.

  • Issue#6805: Samsung Display: Backlight issue: dark semicircle appears on right side of screen

So this is a second hand Samsung SyncMaster S23B300 (23") HD DVI monitor but worked fine when I first got it, daily use, no issues till recently so hopefully the previous owner didn't know about it. The issue is, when I turn the monitor on after it being off, a dark semicircular shadow radiates from the right side. If I press on the plastic frame, things return to normal, and after a bit of fiddling I can get it stable and make the screen appear normal again. However, this is becoming more frequent and more difficult to remedy each time it happens. It seems like a small issue and I am used to fixing things myself, I can solder etc, but I have no idea how these monitors work. I am under the impression that it could potentially be a capacitor, or even simply some bad connection. Should I just open it up and have a go? Any tips?
